INFRASTRUCTURAL DECAY: Resident Of Ikotun Sends “5for5” Points Demand To Sanwo-Olu

Street in Ikotun begging for repairs

Residents of Irebami Unity Community Development Association in the heart of Ikotun ,  Alimosho Local Government Area, have presented a 5for5” points demand to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu over the deplorable state of infrastructure within and around its environs.

The community leaders expressed displeasure over marginalisation and lack of government presence since 1999.

According to a statement, made available to our correspondent over the weekend , residents of the community are groaning over the deplorable state of general infrastructure and complete neglect, which in turn has led to frustration on the faces of many.

The statement signed by the community chairman,Prince Abiola Noah Odunsi dated 6th November 2020, stressed that the 5for5” points agenda was the uncompromising position of all patriotic stakeholders which include; elders, youths and children of the community.

While giving a breakdown of the demands , Odunsi called on the governor to compel one of state owned government agencies LASIMRA to provide environmental impact assessment report as part of measure to check the installation of optic fibre cable within the community .

 

 

Odunsi reiterated that the community also needs clean health certification report from appropriate health authority in line with the controversial installation.

The chairman also clamoured for mass distribution of federal government approved prepaid meters which will be freely circulated to the residents of the community.

He maintained that security of lives and properties, being the primary responsibility of the government should be considered adding that good roads and standard drainage system must be provided for residents of the community.

He pointed out to the state governor that:”Please be informed that there is no single motorable road with proper drainage channels existing in our community and it’s environ, neither do we have any meaningful infrastructure to point at since the founding fathers of our community passed away in 1999.

“Despite delivering electoral victory votes to the ruling party at the local government area , state and federal levels, the community have nothing to show for, and the residents have had nothing to benefit ever since.

He recalled that:”As the corona virus pandemic is still ravaging the world, we humbly advise that, all LASIMRA officials and their contractors/sub-contractors and unprofessional workers had consistently violated the COVID19 safety rules and precautions, should kindly keep off our community, as we do not want to have any recorded case of communal spread of the corona virus.

Irebami Unity CDA had written a total of six letters to the state owned government agency (LASIMRA) on issues affecting the community and the ongoing telecommunication project
