Imo Govt Debunks Verification Exercise Of Pensioners 

The Imo State Government has debunked any form of invitation for pensioners to carry out verification exercise.

The state government noted with deep concern the circulation of a fake announcement inviting pensioners to a verification  exercise from February 8th to February 18th this year.

 

The fake announcement was purported to have been signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Strategy , Hon Declan Emelumba.

But in a statement the commissioner ,said for the avoidance of doubt, the state government at no time invited any set of pensioners for any kind of verification whatsoever.

“Again at no time did I or any Government official  author or authorised any announcement of such.

 

“There is no doubt that this is another cheap blackmail by the opposition to cause confusion among our senior citizens to ultimately embarrass the state government.

 

“If the announcement was genuine and emaniated from me,it would have been aired first by imo broadcasting corporation.

 

He called on the public, especially the pensioners to disregard the fake announcement as there is no verification of pensioners in the dates indicated.

According to him,  government will always use credible media to educate and inform the citizens about its programmes and policies, urging the public to be guided accordingly.
