Immigration, Shippers Council Pledge To Promote Safer Port Operations

The Nigeria Immigration Service, Lagos Seaports/Marine Command has solicited the Nigerian Shippers Council collaboration towards ensuring a safer ports operation devoid of illegal activities.

Comptroller of the command , Comptroller Clementina Ogbudu, disclosed this on Tuesday in Lagos, during her courtesy visit to management of the council .

Her visit to the Nigerian Shippers Council was a step toward fostering collaboration and ensuring a secure and efficient maritime business environment.

Speaking on behalf of the Command, Comptroller Ogbudu, emphasized the need for strong partnership with the NSC to enhance service delivery and uphold their mandate.

The Comptroller sought the collaboration of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council in her quest for a maritime environment that is devoid of stowaway activities and transborder crimes.

She also pledged the support of the Lagos Seaports and Marine Command in combating all threats to trade facilitation and ease of doing business.

In response, ES/CEO of the Council, Akutah Pius Ukeyima reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to improving efficiency in maritime trade.

Akutah also highlighted the critical role of inter-agency collaboration in breaking down barriers and promoting seamless operations at the ports.

He noted that Nigeria Immigration Service plays a vital role in regulating immigration at the ports, and the engagement underscores the importance of working together to achieve shared objectives.
