IMMIGRATION: Lagos Seaports Command Takes Anti Corruption Campaign To Port Operators

The Nigeria Immigration Service , Lagos Seaports and Marine Command on Monday, December 15 2025, embarked on a sensitization campaign exercise aimed to combat corruption and to promote service delivery nationwide.

Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Services NIS (CGIS) Kemi Nanna Nandap delivered a stirring address at the flag-off ceremony for the fourth edition of the 2025 Nationwide Sensitization Campaign.

The CGIS who was represented by CIS , Clementina Ogbudu , who is charge of Lagos Seaports and Marine Command,, highlighted restructured service centers delivering faster processing, fairer procedures, and better customer service, proving that transparency drives efficiency.

Themed “Innovating for Transparency and Efficiency: Strengthening Service Delivery and Combating Corruption through Reforms,” the event underscores the Nigeria Immigration Service’s (NIS) push for a modern, incorruptible agency.

Nandap emphasized the NIS’s recent technological strides, including automated passport applications and biometric border systems, which have slashed delays, curbed corruption opportunities, and boosted transparency.

“These innovations have reduced human interference and ensured our services meet citizens’ expectations in a changing world,” she stated.

She reaffirmed the agency’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption through ethical training, disciplinary actions, and partnerships with sister agencies, international bodies, and civil society to align with global best practices.

Urging officers, stakeholders, and citizens to unite, Nandap declared, “Transparency is not optional—it is essential. Together, we can build an NIS that is innovative, transparent, efficient, and incorruptible.

” The campaign aims to sustain these reforms through collective commitment.In a poignant moment, Nandap honored fallen colleagues killed by suspected Boko Haram and ISWAP gunmen at posts in Munguno (Borno), Tuga (Kebbi), and Luma (Niger) states during national security operations.

Attendees observed a minute of silence to commemorate their sacrifice and support their families.The initiative signals NIS’s ongoing transformation into a beacon of integrity and excellence for Nigeria.

The awareness programme has in attendance – top officials from National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Port Police Officers, terminal operators,shipping companies, Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission (ICPC) among many other stakeholders.
