Immigration Boss Urges Marine Personnel To Brace Up Amid COVID19 Pandemic In Port Operations

The Assistant Comptroller General ,Nigeria Immigration Service in charge of Zone “A”, Mohammed Alfa on Thursday, reaffirmed that the Lagos seaports remain open for operations ,even as he urged personnel of the Command to brace up for the challenges of the COVID19 pandemic .

Alfa who undertook a working visit to Apapa and Tin Can Island Ports,was conducted round the various sections of the Command by the Comptroller, Lagos Seaports/ Marine Command, Mrs. Olubusola Fashakin.

Public Relations Officer, Lagos Seaports/ Marine Command , Augustus Maisor , in a statement made available to Dailyfocus News Online ,said the visit was in continuation of the ACG’s assessment of operations in Commands under the Zone during the period of the lockdown.

Addressing officers and men of the Marine Command, Mohammed Alfa acknowledged the enormity of the challenges posed by the current Corona Virus disease and urged them to live up to their statutory responsibility of securing the nation’s borders.

According to the Assistant Comptroller General, the Lagos Seaports remain open and urged personnel of the Command to brace up for the challenges of the moment.

While reminding officers and men of the NCDC guidelines on social distancing and personal hygiene, ACG Alfa said the Service under the leadership of CGI Mohammad Babandede was doing all it takes to provide the needed infrastructure to enhance their operations.

He also used the event to demonstrate hand washing as a measure aimed at preventing the COVID-19 pandemic.

Also on ground to receive the ACG who is the Zonal Coordinator for Lagos and Ogun states, were the DPO Apapa Port, the officer in charge of the Anti-bomb Squad and representatives of other sister agencies.
