IKOYI PASSPORT OFFICE : Immigration Blames EKEDC Over Epileptic Power Supply

The Passport Control Officer PCO, Nigeria Immigration Service, Passport Office, Ikoyi, Lagos, Deputy Comptroller of Immigration (DCI), Ibrahim Limah has raised concerns over incessant power outage caused by the management of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) saying that the situation poses  serious threat to passport issuances to Nigerians.

 

 

DCI disclosed this on Thursday during a brief award ceremony held at the command in honour of his sterling performance in less than 100 days in office at the Ikoyi Command.

 

Limah who bagged the award from DAILYFOCUS NIGERIA ; as the most outstanding officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service for the year 2021, maintained that operational activities of personnel on  passports processing  for citizens have suffered setbacks due to changes of power supply from the distribution company.

According to him, the command use to share same power supply with Dodan Barracks which has constant supply of electricity but added that for past ninety days, things have gone worst for officers and men due to the changes.

 

The Immigration boss reiterated that the situation of poor power supply to the command was pathetic due to the pressure imposition of personnel

 

Limah lamented that due to pressure, some of staff now spend additional days in the office without visiting their family, in furtherance to ensure that passports are issued out to yearning Nigerians.

He pointed out that the command has relied greatly on diesel to enhance its operations noting that the cost of fuelling if estimated would be of negative implication to the economy of Nigeria.

The top Immigration officer called on the EKEDC to reconnect the command to Dodan Barrack to enable it get frequent supply of electricity.

 

Limah who dedicated the award to officers and men of the

command, stressed the need for team spirit, hard-work and dedication, calling on personnel of the service to contribute their best to move the nation ahead.

He also assured the media and prospective passport owners of an open door policy in bridging the gap on issues affecting passports.

 

 

On his part ,Editor , DAILYFOCUS NIGERIA, Comrade Roland Ekama noted that a survey was conducted in some of the service commands across the  country to underscore the passport issuance to citizens but the Ikoyi Command boss stood out,  thus the need for the award.

Meanwhile, attempts to get the response from the General Manager, Corporate Communication EKEDC, Mr. Godwin Idemudia prove abortive .
