Humanitarian Affairs Ministry Begins Assessment Of National Home Grown School Feeding Programme

The Honourable Minister of  Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq has commenced the assessment  of the progress of the National Home Grown School Feeding Programmes in Abuja.

 

 

 

Speaking at the orientation exercise for the staff of the Ministry,on behalf  of the Minister, the National  Coordinator of the National Social Investment Programme Dr. Umar B.  Bindir said  that,” if we are to access the progress of this programme we need numbers, real data, that will identify  the cooks, every child, number of schools and capture data and analyse”.

According to him, the National Home Grown Grown School Feeding Programme has increased school enrollment, healthy well being and better performance of the pupils in school.

He said that the Ministry  must assure  Nigerians that it has capacity to uproot the problem of poverty in Nigeria and other attendant problem associated with poverty.

 

 

He  urged the staff to support one of the clusters of the National Social Investment Programme to achieve the goal of the enumeration  exercise.

 

The representative  of the Permanent  Secretary Alhaji Ali Grema, Director  Humanitarian Affairs said, ” the programme  will create an avenue for better programme  planning, create room for to enlistment of more  beneficiaries,  foster accountability in line with established practices and judicious use of resources”.

He charged the staff present to conduct themselves as the eyes and mouth piece of the Ministry and convey it’s objectives. He added that, they are to conduct themselves with utmost dignity as civil servants as they carry out the assignment successfully.
