Seafarers on Monday commended the National President ,Nigeria Merchant Navy Officers and Water Transport Senior Staff Association NMNOWTSSA, Comrade Bob Joseph Yousou for his sterling performance since elected into office in 2020 .
The commendation was in line with his birthday celebration which held in Lagos.

According to the seafarers, Yousou’s leadership style has brought tremendous transformation to the Trade Union Congress (TUC) affiliate group that is worthy of emulation.
Speaking at the glamorous and colourful ceremony at the national secretariat of the union in Apapa, Secretary General NMNOWTSSA, Comrade John Aleakhue Okpono reiterated that the birthday celebration for the President was symbolic due to his outstanding performance in office.
Okpono described the president as a man with vision for leadership and workers welfare adding that his open door policy for members of the union irrespective of their position paved the way for transparency.
The Union’s scribe maintained that the secretariat staff will continue to support him for the sustainability of the NMNOWTSSA under his tenure.
He prayer for God’s wisdoms and understand for the National President to lead members of the union that will to more goals oriented noting that the achievements have no hiding places
Okpono prayed , saying “We come against setback under your watch,we thank you and we appreciate your open door policy for us all. As we celebrate you today, celebration will not cease in our homes and families in Jesus name”.
In his remarks, Chairman, Shipping Zonal Council, Captain Saliu Adetayo, lauded the celebrant for the exemplary leadership style of Engr. Bob Yousou, even as he expressed satisfaction for the transformation of the union within a short period.
Adetayo added that The seafarers union will continue to appreciate Yousou for the goodwill and service to humanity noting that the NMNOWTSSA has what it takes to be the front runner among TUC affiliates with the kind of leadership qualities of the national president.
On his part Chairman, Offshore Zonal Council, NMNOWTSSA, Captain Cyril Nzekwe
appreciated the President for successes recorded so far as leader of the union.
He prayed for divine protection and more successes for the union and members, saying that the zone will continue to support him in achieving greatness.
Responding, Yousou appreciated the members of the union for the showers of blessings on him.
He stated that the profession has not given him the ample time to celebrate his birthday, saying “I always celebrate my birthday at sea. Even while onboard ship I don’t usually cut cake like this so this is indeed symbolic to me “.
We further promised to take the union to enviable heights adding that “The progress recorded so far is just a top of the iceberg”.
He pledged to work harder for the betterment of the staff and members welfare adding that the more success will soon be achieved in no distance time.
