Gov. Tambuwal Distributes Soccer Kits To Football Clubs, Pays Associations Registration Fees

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state has flagged off the distribution of football kits to 600 clubs in the state and also paid season registration fees for the four Football Associations in the State.
Speaking at the ceremony held at Sultan Maccido Institute of Qur an and General Studies, Governor Tambuwal said the gesture is annual one with the current event being extensive as 600 more clubs across the 23 local government are slated to benefit from such event n no distant future.

According to a statement from Muhammad Bello, Special Adviser Media and Publicity to the Governor on Friday, March 10, 2023, items distributed to inaugural beneficiaries include jerseys , balls,among other sporting facilities.
According to the governor, in addition to these, four indigenous football associations also got cheques for their registration fees.
Commending the state ministry of youth and sports for the initiative, Governor Tambuwal said his administration is paying more attention to the development of sports to make the youth in the state progress.
While giving kudos to the youths for being part of the transformation taking place in the state, the Governor frowned at the way some leaders are taking advantage of the youth and turning them into political thugs.
“Please allow our youths to go back into their senses. As the leaders we must not take advantages of our youths and misuse them as political thugs,” he maintained.
Instead, he suggests that there is need to develop the youths for so that they could benefit themselves, their family and the state in general.
In his address, the commissioner Youth and Sports Bashir Gidado said in the state government’s history of  no administration has committed   energy, resources and time to the development of sports and youths like that of Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.
He also announced that Sokoto state handball team has also qualified to represent Nigeria in Egypt next month which the governor has already approved the trip, while enumerating extensively on the achievements so far recorded by present administration from 2015 to date.
