Gov. Oborevwori Talks Tough Over Substandard Execution Of Road Projects In Delta State

Assures Contractors Of Severe Punishment

Delta State Governor , Sheriff Oborevwori has expressed strong displeasure over the substandard execution of road projects by some contractors in Delta State, warning of severe consequences for poor project delivery.

Governor Oborevwori described the state of the roads as unacceptable, emphasizing that the government would not tolerate shoddy work that undermines public trust and wastes resources.

He further warned that contractors who fail to meet contractual standards would face blacklisting and would not be issued Certificates of Completion.

The Governor’s dissatisfaction was made evident during an intense road inspection exercise on Tuesday, where he decried the condition of several projects.

Governor Oborevwori who inspected several major infrastructure projects in Delta State, urging contractors to maximize the dry season for timely completion.

These include the Ibusa-Achalla/Asaba Road Phase II and the Odozi Obodo/Aninta/Anenta Streets off Ezenei Avenue. He also inspected the 650-meter Marine Road Project, all located in Oshimili South Local Government Area.

 

Earlier in the day, he visited the Asaba Waterfront Project, a 6-lane dual carriageway in Oshimili South LGA, which is being developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement.

During the inspection, the Governor confirmed that compensation payments for right of way have been completed while assuring that much progress would have been made on the project before the rainy season begins.

Later, he inspected the Oko-Amakom/Oko-Obiokpu Road in Oshimili South, internal roads at the 63 Brigade Nigerian Army Barrack in Oshimili North, the Gully Erosion Site along the Okpanam/Ibusa Bypass, the Perimeter Road at Asaba Airport, and the Kwekagbor Community Road in Oshimili South LGA.
