General Hospital Apapa Partners Local Government For Health Well-Being Of Students

In commemoration of its 60th anniversary, the Lagos State Government General Hospital Apapa and Apapa Local Government have restated commitment for the health and well being of pupils and students within the community.

Chairman, Apapa Local Government, Mrs Idowu Senbanjo and Medical Director/Chief Executive Officer, General Hospital,Apapa Dr. Lateefah Omolara Agbaje, disclosed this recently, during the hospital ‘s 60th anniversary held in Lagos.

Management of General Hospital organised a medical outreach exercise for government owned primary schools within the community.

Speaking at the occasion, the Chairman of Apapa Local Government expressed satisfaction over the large turnout of pupils for the free medical outreach exercise, saying that the council will continue to support the hospital in delivering quality healthcare services.

While describing the exercise as giving back to society by the Lagos State government through the hospital for the laudable innovation in line with the 60th anniversary, Senbanjo noted that the pupils from government owned schools deserve better healthcare services.

She said the council will continue to partner the hospital towards ensuring quality health services for people of the community.

Medical Director/Chief Executive Officer, General Hospital,Apapa Dr. Lateefah Omolara Agbaje, said the hospital was established in 1964 as health centre before the upgrade, saying that the anniversary was part of efforts to give back to society.

She noted that the anniversary was an opportunity to allow the pupils express themselves in line with their health status.

Dr. Agbaje advised the pupils that health is wealth hence the need to stay healthy.

She added that the anniversary marks a critical landmarks for health provision for people of the community and expanding public services to the people.

Dr. Agbaje expressed disappointment over the absence of secondary schools participation in the exercise adding that letters were written to both senior and junior secondary schools in Apapa yet the fail to turn up.

Highpoints of the Medical outreach for pupils includes – health tips, health talks , dance, exercise , eyes check up , inspection of the new equipment at the facilities, entertainment, distribution of free medication, medical test etc.

Some of the schools that benefitted from the medical outreach put together by the government owned hospital include :Lady Lak Nursery/ Primary School, Apapa Primary School, Methodist Primary School, and United Christian Primary School all situated in Apapa
