FUNERAL: MWUN Pays Last Tribute To Late Comrade Adeleke Sanni

Members of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) on Friday, paid their last tribute to Late Comrade Adeleke Sanni, at the funeral service held in his resident , Ayobo, Lagos State.

The union members took turn to extol the former President, Nigeria Ports Authority NPA,Branch for his contributions to the labour struggle.

They maintained that Late Comrade Sanni will be greatly missed by all.

Speaking with our correspondent shortly after the funeral rites, Chairman , Planning Committee for the Burial,Comrade Harry Tonye described that Late union leader as a socialite adding that Sanni played key roles in the welfare of NPA workers and the union in general.

Tonye who is the Deputy President General MWUN, called on the family of the late union boss to embrace love ,unity and peaceful coexistence , pointing out life must continue despite the demise of the unionist.

The Deputy President General noted that Comrade Sanni deserves a befitting burial ceremony going by his immense contributions to the labour union.

He said: “Its a celebration of life,even though the person we are celebrating died at a young age of 61 , we commit everything in the hands of God .

“We are all dressed in one attire which symbolically represents Sanni’s socialist way of life ,his generosity, reliability and humble nature.

“I met him in the union and today he has left us but for the period we spend together as Comrade, I will say he is a great man and we will definitely miss him.”

According to Tonye, Late Sanni was a thoroughbred unionist with a strong passion for  workers welfare.

Also speaking, President, NPA Branch, MWUN Comrade Ifeanyi Mazeli described Sanni’s death as a big loss to the maritime industry, the MWUN and NPA.

Mazeli reiterated that the late Comrade will be missed by the union adding the he rose from the cradle to the top of his career as a labour expert.

The NPA Boss stated that Sanni was an achiever during his  existence on earth.

Late Comrade Adeleke Sanni until is death was the Senior Adviser to the President General of MWUN,Comrade Adewale Adeyanju.

He also served under the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and NPA respectively.
