Foundation To NDLEA: Take WADA Campaign To National Assembly

...Says Nobody Is Above The Law

 

The Anti Drug Impact Foundation has called on the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to take its campaign to National Assembly by intensifying efforts in prosecuting lawmakers involved in drug dealings or abuse.

The group maintained that nobody is above the law and the NDLEA must be vigilant by embarking on thorough checks on individuals or groups irrespective of social or political status.

Convener of Anti-Drug Impact Foundation, Olayiwola Ibrahim who commended the NDLEA for their tireless efforts in combating drug abuse and trafficking according statement made available to our correspondent, expressed satisfaction on the agency’s drive towards ensuring reduction of drug related vices.

Ibrahim further commended Senator Sumaila Kuwa’s courage in bringing attention to the issue of drug abuse among some senators, particularly his revelation before Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin.
He said: “The agency’s dedication to enforcing drug laws, preventing illicit trafficking, and eradicating narcotic plants and substances is truly commendable.

Ibrahim noted that Sumaila’s courage had shown a good exemplary towards the recovery of drugs, illicit substances from Senator Ashiru’s personal home in Ilorin by the member of the NDLEA.

“This bold step highlights the need for collective action against this menace.
It is imperative that these individuals face the law and answer for their actions.”,he added

According to him, “We therefore call on the NDLEA to: Intensify raids and arrests by Continuing to identify and apprehend those involved in drug trafficking, regardless of their position or status.

“Collaborate with international agencies and work with international organizations to combat cross-border drug trafficking and share intelligence.

“Eradicate narcotic plants by sustaining efforts to destroy illicit cultivation of narcotic plants and substances.”

He noted that”The NDLEA’s role in preventing illicit trafficking, enforcing drug laws, and tracing financial proceeds from drug related activities is crucial .

“We support their efforts and encourage them to remain vigilant in the fight against drug abuse.

In his conclusions, he appreciated General Buba Marwa, Chairman of NDLEA, the Public Relation Officer, Mr Femi Babafemi, and the entire men of Agency , saying that ” Together we can create a safer, healthier Nigeria.”
