Fix Dilapidated Five Star Logistics Quay Apron Urgently – Group Urges New M.D NPA

The Maritime Researchers and Authors Association of Nigeria (MARASSON) has tasked the newly appointed Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho as a matter of urgency to fix the dilapidated Five Star Logistics Quay Apron at Tin Can Island Port Complex that has collapsed a long time ago .

The group disclosed over the weekend as part of its congratulatory message, for the new Managing Director of the NIgerian Ports Authority (NPA), on his recent meritorious appointment.

In the statement made available to DAILY FOCUS NIGERIA by A.O. Vincent, National Executive Secretary, MARASSON said “As a core maritime technocrat, a thoroughbred in maritime practice of many years standing, we have no doubt that Dr. Dantsoho will transform the NIgerian Port Industry during his tenure.

According to the statement, the free flowing vehicular movement must be sustained by management of NPA to encourage trade facilitation.

The statement further commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the appointment of a player from the industry, praying that for God to give him victory and sense of fulfilment at the end of his tenure..

“The dilapidated quay aprons, the port access roads, the sanity of the port environment, discipline among the port security personnel, the sustenance of the traffic gridlock which the Tin Can Port Manager has effectively confronted frontally and won the battle.

Continuing, it said”The Five Star Logistics Quay Apron that has collapsed a long time ago, the ENL Berth 13 sinking floor, and the lawless nature of the road users are some of the urgent problems the new Managing Director needs to work on.

“We wish you the best in this onerous assignment; and strongly believe that you will justify the confidence reposed in you by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who believes in putting the round pegs in the round holes.”

Recall that the federal government had commenced maintenance work on the collapsed Five Star quay apron.
