FAAN Nabs 186 Suspects In Two Months, Set To Introduce Uniform Among Govt Agencies At Airports

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) said it arrested 186 suspected vandals who illegally gained entrance into the airport premises between October and November, 2019 ,across the country .

The Managing Director of FAAN, Captain Rabiu Hamisu Yadudu said this at a programme organised by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Nigeria in Lagos.

Explaining the difficulty in security job, he maintained that some staff sometimes compromise their assignments thereby leading to porosity of the airport.

He said, “Security is a very difficult thing to manage. Security is supposed to be the responsibility of everybody.

He admitted that security lapses does not affect FAAN alone but that it is a global menace.

Explaining further, he said that some people encroach into the airport to vandalize some of its amenities with boldness.

“Let me give you data, in the last two months, our aviation security has arrested 186 people who encroached into the airport.

He however admitted that the authority is working closely with other federal government agencies to address the issues of insecurity at the airports across the country.

Similarly, the FAAN boss reiterated that it will introduce uniform identification among government agencies at the airports which is aimed to provide the needed services by the passengers on demand.

He said the uniform will come on stream in first quarter of 2020.

The FAAN boss further noted that training and retraining of government workers was necessary to bring about attitudinal and behavioral changes while dealing with passengers.
