The founder, New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Dr. Boniface Aniebonam has called on stakeholders in the maritime sector to join hands with the party to secure its future by voting Rabiu Kwankwaso as the next president of Nigeria come 2023.
Aniebonam, who stated this during a press conference on the State of the Nation: Politics and Maritime Trade on Friday in Lagos, said freight forwarders will breathe an air of freedom if Kwankwaso emerge president, and that he (Aniebonam) has the reach and opportunity to get his attention.
Aniebonam who is also the founder , National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) said the industry practitioners have been complaining about low productivity and corruption, and can no longer achieve their professional callings, including job satisfaction.
According to him, the NNPP will hold its National Convention on June 8, 2022 to confirm Kwankwaso as the presidential flag bearer of the party unopposed.
He said: “It is in the public knowledge that New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) originated from the transport industry, logistics businesses and Customs facilitation. It is therefore very important that we play a major role in ensuring that NNPP emerges in the forthcoming election 2023. This has become necessary to enable us address the industry problems from within.
“Therefore, we must engage the leadership of NNPP at the moment to extract firm commitment from them. We must therefore form a strong block and drive membership and finances as part of our contribution to the success of NNPP in 2023. It is only then we can bargain effectively with a view to securing our interest and better future.
“Let us go out to mobilize all over our clients (importers, exporters dependents and associates) and with our PVC’s on hand to raise 10 million votes for NNPP presidential candidate. I hereby encourage all freight forwarders, logistics managers and all other associated stakeholders in the maritime transport and Customs facilitation to return to their various states to mobilize bonified voters for NNPP contestants in the 2023 general election.
“It is not news to all that good governance has eluded our country for so long, leading to difficulties to earn a good life. This is remotely caused by our disrespect for the rule of law and regulations. The inability of the government to effectively enforce the laws of the land is a major factor under the circumstance and the need to restart civil order becomes imperative. It is a fact that politics is about interest – who gets what, where, when and how. It is also a process to enthrone good governance for the benefit of greater numbers.
“It is common knowledge that all is not well with our country due to several reasons. The various agitations of the Zones in our country, starting from matters of marginalization, bad economy to insecurity of the Nigerian state, life is generally very unfavourable to Nigerians”.
Speaking further on what Kwankwaso offers, he said: “We all know things are not right and can no longer wait for manna to fall from heaven. We can’t continue to sing the same old song. We must work hard to change things from within and start to enjoy the dividends of democracy.
“Nigeria needs a strong and patriotic leader with unquestionable character, with the bent for human capacity development. Kwankwaso has the capacity to reunite Nigeria and bring all regions together. He will improve the economy and reverse the downward spiral and transform it from a consumption nation to a productive one.
“Insecurity, caused by frustration in the country will die a natural death and peace will be restored with the people gainfully employed and having a sense of belonging”.
The freight forwarding doyen advised trouble makers to stay away from the party as it is only open to those with the dream and intent to see a new and working Nigeria.
He disclosed that as a man from the Eastern region, he was unhappy over the failure of the major political parties to honour the internal zoning arrangement to the South-East. He however stressed that leadership should be more about capacity, and that Kwankwaso’s coming to the party is divine.
“Once things are okay, nobody will care about the region the president comes from. It should be about competence and agreement that all agitations must be resolved so that we can live as one.
“At this point, it’s obvious that God has decided to intervene in our country through NNPP. To achieve this objective the need for a collective responsibility becomes inevitable to redefine Nigeria through quality leadership and good governance.
“Indeed, the problem of Nigeria is so solvable if only leadership is divine. This is because there are no difficulties in bringing all the nationalities together to discuss on how be
