Ekiti State Task Force Allegedly Destroys Goods, kiosks, Brutalises Traders

Some Traders in Ado Ekiti have been thrown into pain and agony following the wanton destruction of their goods and kiosks by the members of Ekiti State Traffic Management Agency, EKSTMA.

 

The Traders wept profusely as the Chairman of the Agency, Mr Olufemi Olanrewaju popularly called Ijakoko led some security agents to set ablaze their means of livelihood at Oja Oba area of Ado Ekiti.

 

Some who made attempts to salvage their property were brutalised by members of the Task Force.

Speaking with our correspondent some of the Traders including, George Daniel and Kemi Ojo described the action as uncalled for, saying that some of their goods were also looted by the officers.

The traders explained that they came to the market to make some sales in order to feed their families, more also that they were among those exempted by the Governor’s directive on the stay-at-home-order.

 

They appealed to Governor Kayode Fayemi to call the Head of the Task-force to order and check his excesses.

 

In an interview, Chairman of Ekiti State Traffic Management Agency, Mr Olufemi Olanrewaju said that the traders had been warned several times to vacate the market in line with social distancing to check the spread of COVID-19.

Mr Olanrewaju denied the allegation that goods were burnt, saying members of the joint Task-force in the state only set ablaze kiosks used for displaying their goods on the road.
