Eid Al Fitr: NMNOWTSSA Felicitates Muslims , Preaches Love ,Compassion Among Maritime Stakeholders

The Nigeria Merchant Navy Officer and Water Transport Senior Staff Association NMNOWTSSA has urged stakeholders in the maritime industry to demonstrate love and kindness during the the season of Eid Al Fitr celebration.

National President NMNOWTSSA, Comrade Bob Yousuo disclosed this in his goodwill message to muslim faithfuls across the global and members of the seafaring profession on Monday.

Yousuo who is the Chairman, International Transport Workers Federation ( ITF) Africa Seafarers’ stated that the end of Ramadan, is a period of reflection, compassion, and love and an opportunity for all to support one another.

The seasoned Mariner emphasised the need for the maritime community to redefine the narratives around the industry through love and acceptance adding that showing solidarity will go a long way in sending a powerful message through positive minded employees and employers of labour relationship.

He stressed that stakeholders should extend compassion in the spirit of Eid and reach out to those who may feel isolated or stigmatized in the line of duty at sea noting that a small act of kindness, such as a simple visit or a gift, can drastically impact someone’s day and sense of belonging.

While emphasising the need to intensify efforts in raising awareness geared towards seafaring activities and the dark side of the profession, the African number one seaman urged all stakeholders to take the opportunity of the season to discuss better working condition for workers in the seafaring community and to reach out to family members whose love ones are at sea moving world trade.

“In the spirit of this festive season, we encourage everyone to show love and solidarity towards all members of our Marine community, particularly our brothers and sisters at sea.

“This year, let us collectively make an effort to foster an inclusive environment that celebrates diversity and promotes understanding.”he appealed .

However, Yousuo expressed optimism that through unity and proactive engagement, players in the maritime sector can work towards achieving a peaceful coexistence between workers and management .
