EFCC, Immigration To Jointly Tackle Passport Racketeering

Determined to resolve delay and other issues  bothering seamless operations, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission  (EFCC) and the Nigeria Immigration Service, (NIS),  have resolved to join forces in tackling the menace of passport racketeering and other fraudulent practices that had bedevilled the process of obtaining the vital document.
According to a statement, this understanding was the highpoint of discussion over the weekend when the Executive Chairman EFCC, Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa and the Acting Comptroller General of the  Service,  Mr. Idris Isah Jere, met behind closed doors at the EFCC Headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.

Bawa, who expressed displeasure at the level of racketeering and other sharp practices in the process of issuance of travel documents especially passports across the country.
He however, vowed that the EFCC will henceforth crack down on the unscrupulous elements behind the racket.
Jere, in his response, welcomed the EFCC Chairman’s offer and expressed his Agency’s preparedness to collaborate with the EFCC in addressing the menace of passport racketeering and other fraudulent practices.
