Dr. Jamoh Rejects CIOTA’s Governing Council Nomination

The immediate past President of the Chartered Institute of Transport and Administration (CIOTA) Dr. Bashir Jamoh has dissociated himself from the enlisted membership nomination for the proposed governing council / elders advisory council of the Institute.

Jamoh is who the current Director General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) in a letter dated 03 January 2023 and sighted by DAILY FOCUS NIGERIA, explained that a publication that purportedly emanated from CIoTA and signed by a certain Mrs. Chinwe Uwaegbute dated 16th December, was unacceptable to him.

In line with the court injunction , he noted that with the litigation in place thus as a patriotic  law abiding citizen of the country, there was need to dispense justice, saying that the Institute will survive the ephemeral traffic and come back very strongly and better for the overall benefit of members and the nation at large.

He stated that: ” It is my pleasure to maintain silence until the Court has taken its position. My respect for the Court and due process means that our Lawyers and the Court should be allowed to dispense justice and we shouldn’t do anything contrary or such that can jeopardize our chances and capable of bringing the Institute to the mud. “Jamoh expressed in the letter.

The letter reads in full:

ENLISTMENT AS A MEMBER OF THE PROPOSED CIoTA GOVERNING COUNCIL / ELDERS ADVISORY COUNCIL

  1. My attention has been drawn to the publication purported to have emanated from CIoTA and signed by Mrs. Chinwe Uwaegbute dated 16th December, 2022 wherein I, Dr. Bashir Yusuf Jamoh OFR was enlisted as a member of nominees for the proposed Governing Council / Elders Advisory Council.

  1. My fellow CIoTAns, you are all aware of the outcome of the CIoTA 2022 election and that the duo of Mr. Godson Obi Iwedike Esq and Mr. Nnamdi Eronini has taken the Institute; the product of the election to Court where I was co-joined in their suit.

 

  1. As a patriotic and law abiding citizen of our dear country Nigeria, it is my pleasure to maintain silence until the Court has taken its position. My respect for the Court and due process means that our Lawyers and the Court should be allowed to dispense justice and we shouldn’t do anything contrary or such that can jeopardize our chances and capable of bringing the Institute to the mud.

Consequent to the above, I therefore state and affirm categorically that the position of member of Governing Council and Elders Advisory Council as conveyed in the said publication of 16th December 2022 is unacceptable by me; and as such, I hereby dissociate myself from the above mentioned publication and all that pertaining to it thereof, pending the dispensation of justice by the Court.

  1. Accordingly, I wish to inform our esteemed CIoTAns nationwide and the general public that the Institute will survive this ephemeral traffic and come back very strongly and better for the overall benefit of members and the country at large.

 

  1. On this score, I therefore, urge us all to be law abiding while praying fervently that CIoTA would not find itself in this kind of situation again.
