Dockworkers “Pass Vote Of Confidence” For Comrade Ohize Reelection As Branch President

Comrade Tajudeen Ohize, President Dockworkers Branch President, Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria

Dockworkers under the aegis of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) have passed a vote of confidence to the incumbent branch President , Comrade Tajudeen Ohize for his second term reelection ambition.

The Dockworkers spoke at a rally in Lagos ,as part of their solidarity support for the incumbent Branch President re-election .

Speaking at the gathering , Coordinator of the Concerned Maritime Workers,Comrade Comrade Jide Alfred affirmed that the leadership style of the incumbent President was quite commendable in the last years thus the need to show appreciation and to urge him to do more in the coming years.

Alfred said “There are loads of transformation in the last four years from the branch under your watch as President of Dockworkers

“We are in a joyful mood and we are satisfied with your performance in the last four years and that is why we came to pass vote of confidence.

“We are here to support you and your executives and to let you know that your second term is carry go.”

Responding , Comrade Ohize called on dockworkers and other Branch members to embrace love and shun backbiting or blackmail.

Ohize maintained that the peace and industrial harmony witnessed in the last four years at the nation’s seaports can be attributed to the leadership style of the President General of the union, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju.

He assured members of the branch that the second term drive will focus on workers welfare adding that issues bothering on International Oil Companies IOCs would be in the front burner shortly after the election.

The President assured members that biometric identity card for dockers would be addressed shortly after the election pointing out the solidarity visit by the concerned workers came as a shock to him.

The President maintained that the districts and units chairmen must be commended for their support in ensuring that the ports operate 24 hours in peace and harmony adding that the scientific approach and methodology put in place has paid off positively to move the nation’s economy forward.

According to him, the leadership of the MWUN led by Comrade Adeyanju would best be described as a bridge builder, mentor and motivator to the younger generation .

“I never expected the solidarity support from the dockworkers this morning. ”
