DICON: FG Partners Republic Of Sudan To Beef Up  Defence Requirements 

The Federal Government has reaffirmed its readiness to partner with the Sudanese Government in the production of Military needs through the Nigerian Defence Industries Cooperation of Nigeria (DICON) and the Sudanese Defence Corporation.

The Minister of Defence, Bashir Salihi Magashi (Major Gen) stated this when a delegation of the Defence Industries System of Sudan paid a courtesy visit to the Ship House in Abuja recently.

Bashir Magashi expressed Nigeria’s willingness to partner with Sudan in enhancing military capability to surmount insurgency in the country as well as exchange training programmes to deepen the already established relationship.

Magashi assured that the Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two countries in 2014 shall be reconsidered and the agreement reached by both countries will be signed as soon as possible.

Earlier in his remarks, the Leader of the delegation and Secretary – General of the Sudanese Government Ministry of Defence, Isam Mohamed Kavra (Lt. Gen) noted that Sudan and Nigeria have had historical cooperation on Military and security over the years.

He also said that the MoU signed in 2014 has the potential of strengthening cooperation, adding that it is necessary for both countries to finalize the MoU, so as to implement and guarantee the benefits accrued to the people of both countries.

As part of the event, a member of the delegation, Tariq Osman Mohammed from the Sudan MASAD made presentations on the Sudanese Defence Industries System, displaying the local production of military wares, armoured vehicles, engineering design, military wears and gears.

 

He explained that the Sudan Defence Industries System is ready to cooperate with the Nigerian Defence Industries Cooperation (DICON) in the production of Military hardware.
