Delta Govt To Recruit 1000 Teachers For Specialized Subjects

The Delta State Government said on Wednesday, it recruited 1,000 teachers for specialized subjects posted to rural schools across the state to address the shortfalls of personnel.

The State Government also assured residents of its determination to sustain the on-going development of the State despite the prevailing challenges of COVID-19 pandemic.
The State Governor,  Ifeanyi Okowa disclosed this today when he commissioned a block of six classrooms built by the Chairman, Ughelli North Local Government Council at Ododegho Secondary School, Ododegho.
Governor Okowa who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr Chiedu Ebie said since the inception of his administration, his government had given priority attention to the development of the education sub-sector in the State.
He listed part of the development to include the construction and rehabilitation of schools across the State, the construction of the Teachers Professional Development Center at Owa Oyibu, Ika North East Local Government Area for the training of teachers
Governor Okowa commended the community for the proactive steps taken to ensure that the school was established and by providing a temporary structure for the take-off of the school.
He charged parents in the community to encourage their wards to take education seriously saying that the statistics on hand showed that the enrollment figure of the school had dropped drastically.
He commended the local Government Chairman for building the block of six classrooms at Ododegho Secondary School and charged the community to take ownership of the project and safe guard it from vandals.
The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Ogbueshi Patrick Ukah urged the Community to protect the project in the area and continue to support the Governor in order to attract more dividends of democracy to the community.
The Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Council, Hon. Godwin Adode thanked Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for the grant given to the Local Government Council saying it spurred him and his team to increase the internal revenue generation which he said, enabled them to achieve the project being commissioned.
Hon. Adode listed other achievements of his administration to include vocational ltraining and empowerment, provision of non-financial support, access to portable drinking water and equipping of health center urged the people to co-operate and protect the project to enable it achieve its purpose.
