“By extension, Environmental Peace building, which is your core area, tends to examine and advocate environmental protection and cooperation as a factor in creating more peaceful relations. This has helped immensely to curb spillover effects.

“A case at hand is the present Federal Government’s efforts to clean up oil spillage in Ogoni Community in Rivers State, after several years; which is helping to contain and assuage the anger(spillover effect) in the minds of the indigenes.

” Environmental peace building integrates natural resources management in conflict prevention and building resilience among various communities of the society. It includes all forms of cooperation on environmental issues/development between distinct social groups, which aim at achieving and creating less violent and more peaceful relations among these groups.

“To this end, this project is aptly a demonstration of your mandate to care for those who have the duty to maintain peace and order in the society at all times: thus I should be correct to rather caption this paper as ” Giving Peace to the Peace Givers”.
