Delta Airline To Suspend Middle Seats Till 2021

Delta Airlines has announced its intention to block middle seats for flights departing now through March 30, 2021.

The airline resumed operations on its Lagos-Atlanta route, September 9th.

A statement emailed to our correspondent by a public relations firm, Topcom, representing the airline, announced the decision on Thursday.

The airline is relying on medical advice that blocking middle seats into the spring of 2021 will boost travellers confidence and encourage them to make future travel plans.

Chief Customer Experience Officer of the carrier, Bill Lentsch was quoted to have said, “Several independent studies have validated the effectiveness of the Delta CareStandard’s multi-layered protection, like advanced ventilation and an extensive cleaning regimen, which together significantly reduces the risk of flight-related transmission.”

He added, “We recognize some customers are still learning to live with this virus and desire extra space for their peace of mind. We are listening and will always take the appropriate steps to ensure our customers have complete confidence in their travel with us.”

Lentsch stressed that the health and safety of customers and employees remains its top priority.

He explained that the Delta CareStandard encompasses protective measures, such as sanitizing every flight, a comprehensive employee COVID testing program, and the use of industrial-grade HEPA filters that extracts more than 99.99 per cent of particles, including viruses.
