Customs Summons Port Activist Over Petition Levelled Against Senior Officer At Apapa Command

Management of the Nigeria Customs Service has summoned port activist ,Chief Osita Chukwu Patrick,National Coordinator,Save Nigeria Freight Forwarders Importers Exporters Coalition (SNFFIEC) to Abuja over petition levelled against a top official of the Apapa Area Command .

According to a document sighted by Dailyfocus Nigeria on Monday , in Lagos , Chukwu ‘s invitation for an interview is in connection to allegations levelled against an Assistant Comptroller at the Apapa Command identified as Mrs B.B. Iheanacho over delay of eight containers which incurred the sum of N2.04m as demurrage .

The document signed by A.Y. Odusanya , Acting Comptroller in charge of Investigation for Deputy Comptroller-General (E,I&I) dated 21st July 2020, called on Chukwu to come along with all relevant documents to buttress his claims.

The interview is expected to hold on the 5th of August 2020 .

The document with headline ” RE: PETITION AGAINST ASST COMPT. IHEANACHO BB (MRS) FOR UNWARRANTED/MALICIOUS DELAY OF 8 NOS. CONTAINERS WITH NUMBER 8X40FT CONTAINERS (I)TCNU-9946550 (2)AMFU-8722620 (3)CMAU-5097705 (4)GESU-5467672 (5)TGBU-6970297 (6)APHU-6561849 (7)CMAU-4114557 (8) GLDU-7615585 AND C . NUMBER 12829 DEMAND FOR THE PAYMENT OF THE SUM OF N2.04M DEMURRAGE THEREBY INCURRED.

The letter added that ” Your appeal dated 6thh July, 2020 to the CGC on the above subject matter is receiving attention in this Unit.

“In view of the above ,I am directed to invite you for an interview with the Comptroller Investigation at the Nigeria Customs Service Headquarters,Wise Zone 3,Abuja on the 5th August,2020 by 1000hrs prompt.

“You are expected to come along come along with all relevant documents to buttress your claims.

“This is for compliance , please.”It stated.

When contacted, Chukwu reaffirmed his readiness to engage officials of service in Abuja over allegations levelled against the customs official.

Chukwu is also the Chairman ,Apapa Chapter of International Freight Forwarders Association (IFFA).
