CUSTOMS :Post Clearance Audit Offices , Tin Can Command Refurbished, As Stakeholders Laud DC Abdul

Barely five months assuming duty at Tin Can Island Command , Nigeria Customs Service, Deputy Comptroller in charge Post Clearance Audit (PCA) , DC Aisha Abdul with assistance of the Area Controller, has renovated the entire unit under her supervision.

Aisha who attributed the successful completion of the PCA offices to the Area Controller, Tin Can Island Command of the service, Comptroller Olakunle Oloyede in a chat with DAILY FOCUS NIGERIA recently, stated that the atmosphere demands some level of comfortability for officers.

DC Abdul stated that aside the administrative aspect of the job, there was need for personnel to work under a conducive atmosphere.

Deputy Comptroller noted that management team of Comptroller Oloyede has been instrumental towards ensuring  close working relationship with personnel under his watch , adding that the idea of renovation of the unit was  well commended by stakeholders.

According to her, the PCA unit  handles fastrack jobs thus, must be handle with high level of technicalities; and  security measures must be prioritized for effective service delivery.

She pointed out that stakeholders have been cooperative with the PCA unit in line with Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) compliance level since assumption of office in January.

“I have been onboard since the end of January 2023 as DC PCA and when you come to a place like this you must be familiar with that place. The Area Controller actually told us what we should do and number one of such is the security aspect of the job which is the number one priority.

“Secondly,is the day to day running of the job which has to do with revenue. As PCA officers we are responsible for checking revenue loss. To ensure revenue lost was be redeemed and then again, the environment was not conducive for any officer to work and that’s why we make sure that our priority was to ensure that our officers get a conducive working atmosphere.

“The work station for the two offices have taken a new look and the officers are very happy about the development.”

She stated that the atmosphere is conducive for the officers and that the hygiene aspect of the personnel has been addressed for the purpose of comfortability.

While attributing the achievement to the leadership of Comptroller Oloyede, DC Aisha further commended the Controller for the legacy , describing him as a father , leader and professional officer who has been motivating personnel toward achieving trade facilitation, improved revenue drive and national security at the command.

DC Aisha also thanked Comptroller General of Customs , Col. Hameed Ali (rtd) management of the service for the encouragement and support for personnel.

Meanwhile, across section of stakeholders including shippers, customs brokers and freight forwarders expressed satisfaction over the transformation.

Speaking, Mr. Chris Okeho noted that the Unit was an eyesore until the posting of the Deputy Comptroller to PCA.

Okeho who commended the Command’ s Area Controller for the rehabilitation, maintained that stakeholders and customs are working harmoniously over the development.

He added that the rehabilitation has also resulted to lull in human contact to the aforementioned unit of Tin Can Island Command customs.

On his part , Victor Okungbuwa , a freight agent expressed satisfaction over the refurbished offices of customs at Tin Can Island Command.

Okungbuwa called on management of the command to extend the gesture to other units untouched.
