The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has reported a 101percent surge in revenue collection for 2024.
According to a statement on Wednesday, Customs Area Controller ,KLT Command , Comptroller Joy Edeldouk, who announced the figures during the decoration of newly promoted Officers revealed that the Command generated ₦107,182,674,904 compared to ₦53,429,613,592 in 2023.
The Comptroller stated that the revenue growth was attributed to the Command’s strategic efforts to strengthen revenue collection, improve compliance, and enhance operational efficiency.
She highlighted that the success can be traced to several key factors, which according to her including: Strategic Initiatives, thus saw the Command Implementing streamlined processes, leveraging technology, and ensuring excellent stakeholder engagement to facilitate legitimate trade.
On Intelligence-driven enforcement, she noted that the command utilized data analytics and intelligence gathering to identify and combat smuggling, fraud, and other customs offenses.
On capacity building: the customs top brass said the command provided regular training and development programs for officers to enhance their skills, knowledge, and professionalism.
In line with stakeholders engagement, she reiterated that the collaboration fostered collaborative relationships with importers, sister agencies, and other stakeholders to promote compliance and facilitate trade.
Comptroller Edeldouk further informed that the Command intends to implement robust risk management systems and data analytics to enhance revenue collection in 2025.
Comptroller Edeldouk disclosed that a total of
4 Comptrollers,3 Deputy Comptrollers,
5 Assistant Comptrollers, 7 Chief Superintendents of Customs totalling 37 officers had been newly promoted within the Command.
Addressing the newly promoted officers, Controller Edeldouk expressed her pride in their dedication and hard work, stating:
