Customs Intercepts Packaged Bags Of PMS Along Waterways

Despite the lockdown and stay at home order by the government, operatives the Western Marine Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has intercepted  bags of Premium Motor Spirit also known as PMS along the creeks.

The Comptroller General of the Service , Hameed Ali barely 48 hours  had directed officers and men of the service to heighten patrol of the waterways and frontiers despite the lockdown.

Controller of the beachcombing command, Comptroller Olugboyega Peters who disclosed the seizure via a trending video on Saturday , pointed out that the daredevil smugglers used the advantage of the lockdown to ship in the items into the country.

He noted that the PMS were packaged in bags cleverly by the smugglers adding that  no arrest was made rather the criminals escaped upon sighting personnel of the service fast approaching.

Comptroller Peters reiterated that command’s
commitment to ensure 24 hours surveillance and patrol of the waterways.

He added that the marine unit would continue to sensitize traditional rulers and others within the creeks about the danger of smuggling and the implications to economic development.
