COVID-19: Shippers’ Council Boss Warns Staff On   Vaccination, Expresses Satisfaction With Co-operative Society

The Executive Secretary Nigerian Shippers’ Council Mr. Emmanuel Jime on Wednesday, called on management and staff of the council to ensure that they comply with the federal government directive on Covid-19 vaccination.

 

Jime made the plea during the Nigerian Shippers’ Council Staff Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited, 25th Annual General Meeting and Election held in Lagos.

The Executive Secretary reiterated that the federal government has mandated all staff to be vaccinated and the council is not an exception.

 

According to him, council’s staff are civil servants that must abide to the government’s directives and guidelines on covid-19 , pointing out that nose masks and social distances must be properly adhered to as part of the preventive measures .

 

Jime who asked workers at the event to know the numbers of those vaccinated so far, maintained that” federal government has mandated all staff to get themselves vaccinated and its a must.

 

“So we should ensure that we are vaccinated because covid-19 is a killer .”

 

While speaking on  his keynote address, Jime acknowledged that the cooperative society of the council was the first group that paid him a courtesy shortly after assuming office even as he described them as one of the most serious, hard-working and committed executives seen.

“They were among the first group to pay me a courtesy visit when | resumed.

 

 

He promised that management of the council will continue to assist the cooperative society in discharging their duty considering its enormous benefits even as he expressed satisfaction with the unprecedented growth in financial performance matrix of the outgoing Executive which reveals it experienced growth in the year .

 

 

“As | promised the executives during their visit to my office, the Management will assist them from time to time in the course of carrying out their duties. | will like to encourage those that are yet to join the cooperative to do so, considering its enormous benefits.

 

” In addition, management is closely watching the operations of the cooperative and will not hesitate to offer interventions when called upon by the Executives.

 

“| am impressed with the unprecedented growth in financial performance matrix of the outgoing Executive which reveals it experienced growth in the year and|am hopeful that will not change if we vote in

Sincere and committed leaders today.

 

“The outgoing Executive deserves our commendation inaddition to the Award recently given to them by the Lagos State Ministry of Commerce, Industry and ease with respect to their transparency .

 

 

Jime affirmed that the Council’s cooperative society deserve an award for the transparency,prudence and integrity displayed That to me is an award not only to the ‘ society but also to the NSC, we hope and expect more awards from the incoming Executives. ”

 

Let me also urge the electoral committee to ensure that the results of today’s election is transparent and should execute their duties without fear or favour, but with fairness and justice.

 

On the election, he urged the co-operators to work in line with the stipulated  guidelines , urging all members to exercise their franchise in accordance to the law.

 

 

The council’s boss noted that the incoming executives should strive to surpass what they meet on ground and bear in mind that they have been put in a position of trust and Management will not fold its hands and watch members of the executive squander the trust given to them.

“Every one of us is a stakeholder in the Cooperative and our hard-earned savings must not be tempered with by anybody.

 

“To the contestants, the Management will not condone any act of unhealthy political rivalry; you should accept the results of the electoral process without rancour. ”

Speaking earlier, Mal. Bashir Ambi-Mohammed, outgoing President NSC Staff Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited said

” Today, with your understanding, support, cooperation, support and guidance from God, | am pleased to announce that we are leaving the sum of over N384,493,251.84  only in fixed accounts.

 

Ambi noted that  galactic amount could not have been achieved without the trust and confidence from all the cooperators and the improvement in the fortunes of  members.

 

The outgoing added that “We have recorded an increase in our net surplus from N34,185,389.67 in 2019 to N37,269,433.83 in 2020 up by 9% increase, net assets closed the year with an increase of 22% year -on year.”
