COVIDー19 EVACUATION UPDATE: 269 Stranded Nigerians Return From India

At least 269 stranded Nigerians in India has landed in the country on Saturday 13th June 2020 at about 2am local time,the Nigerians In Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) ,has disclosed.

According to the verified twitter handle account, @nidcom_gov, the evacuees had 103 in Lagos and 166 in Abuja, even as they were directed to embark on a -14 day compulsory isolation before their passports would be released to them, following the Presidential Task Force on COVID19 new guidelines.

The commission said ” All evacuees are now on compulsory 14 days self isolation according to the new Protocol by the Presidential Task Force on #Covid_19.

It stated that all citizens tested negative before boarding and are to be re-tested within 72 hours at a designated testing center of the Nigeria Center for Disease Control.

“We welcome them home . Just spoken to one of them who is in very high spirits.

“They must present themselves for an @NCDCgov Covid 19 test , 14 day compulsory isolation before their passports are released to them, according to the new guidelines”,Chairman of the Nigerians In Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) , Abike Dabiri Erewa tweeted.
