COMTUA Suffers Another Setback As AMATO Denies Membership

TheAssociation of Maritime Truck Owners.(AMATO) has dissociated itself from the Council of Maritime Truck Unions and Associations (COMTUA) urging the council to stop dragging it to their activities.

 

AMATO in statement sighted by our correspondent on Tuesday, warned leaders and members of COMTUA to stop mentioning or print AMATO as its members.

The statement signed by AMATO President, Chief Remi Ogungbemi reiterated that any claims by COMTUA to say his association was a member should be seen as false pointing out that membership should be based on choice and not false.

The statement added that it has become expedient for the general public to understand that AMATO is not part of COMTUA.

 

The statement reads thus “TO WHOMIT MAY CONCERN & SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT.

 

“Once again, it has gotten to our information that AMATO is being mentioned,

printed or paraded as member of Comtua, therefore, it is become expedient for us

as AMATO to inform all the relevant authorities and the general public at large that:

 

“That there is never a time AMATO align with Comtua and will not be part of COMTUA.

“That any claim of AMATO being member of COMTUA is false.

 

” That as Amato, we would not falling to the cajole rather, we prefer to align ourselves with any group that the same ideology/ principle with us.

 

“That membership of any group is by choice and not by force.

 

“That COMTUA should desist from mentioning or print AMATO as member of COMTUA.

 

Recall that the Maritime Workers Union MWUN and Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners NARTO have both dumped COMTUA in recent times over issues bothering on transparency and accountability.
