Comrade Akin Bodunde Emerges SSASCGOC National Treasurer , As Alakija Gets 2nd Term As PG

President of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Branch, Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government Owned Companies (SSASCGOC), Comrade Akinola Bodunde has been elected as the national treasurer of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) affiliate body (today) Friday, March 27 2028.
Bodunde won unopposed at the 3rd Quadrennial Delegates Conference held in Ibadan Oyo State , with the theme “SSASCGOC’s Partnering Role: Strengthening Government Business, Enhancing Workplace and Sustaining the Rule of Law in Nigeria,”
Speaking with newsmen shortly after the election, Bodunde said the new executives will focus on accountability, transparency ,openness in furtherance to carry everyone along .
Bodunde stated that the union through the dues collected has risen to one billion naira but added the SSASCGOC would work round the clock to invest and grow the monie ls in the purse.
He also commended members of the union for their support toward achieving the new position.
Earlier, reelected President General, SSASCGOC, Comrade Kayode Alakija,,who also won unopposed,celebrated the union’s leaders.while reflecting on resilience since the tense 2019 conference in Abuja:
He said “We remained united and crossed all hurdles because of the rare spirit of comradeship that abounds in us.”
Alakija further disclosed that the union under his watch went from indebtedness to surplus, adding that provision and completion a befitting secretariat vehicular needs were achieved .
He also lauded the Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and residents for their support, crediting the state’s peace as a key reason for hosting:
The President General noted that”Key achievements highlighted:shifted from debt to surplus, paying all bills without borrowing.We also purchased Lexus 570 for President General and Lexus 470 for General Secretary we acquired and refurbished a N200 million+ property in Gwarimpa, Abuja, as the new national secretariat, named “Dr. Peace Obiajulu’s House” in honour of a pioneering leader..
According to him , “This is a testament to the good work and leadership provided by our team.”
“We completed and presented a long-overdue constitution review for delegate approval.Negotiated improved Collective Bargaining Agreements for members at INTELS, OMT Container Terminal, Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA), Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), and Industrial Training Fund (ITF)”,the President General affirmed
Similarly, Alakija noted that the Union has also .expanded new membership to include NAFDAC, OMT Container Terminal, Nigerian Railway Properties, Nigeria Investment Promotion Council (NIPC), Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Accident Investigation Bureau, and others.
In his acceptance speech, the elected PG called on members to support the new executives, adding that the newly elected executives cannot do it alone without the assistance of the full house .
The event drew delegates to rejoice in collective achievements and elect new executives for another four years.
Highpoints of the conference was the presentation of award to distinguished personalities past and present which the immediate past President of NPA Branch of SSASCGOC, Comrade Abubakar Abdullahi among others.
