Cleric Tasks Christians To Desist From Wasteful Living

Christians all over the world have been enjoined to desist from living a wasteful life that God frowns at ,even as they are  advised  to embrace  prudent  and benovelent lifestyle  in the midst of  little or surplus God has blessed them with.

 

This plea was made known by Vicar, Holy Trinity Anglican Church Ikotun, Alimosho Local government area of Lagos state, Reverend Francis Akinyemi.

 

The cleric who  stated this during the  2019 Young People’s Harvest of the Church last Sunday, reminded christians  that though  surplus and unmeritted favour come  from God Almighty ,there was the need for children of God to be disciplined with their resources .

 

Speaking on the dangers of being wasteful when there are so many mendicants all around, Akinyemi maintained that the most high is a God of orderliness and discipline.

 

According to him, “GOD detests wasting of all He has given us, don’t because you have it free, you decide to be wasteful when there are beggars around you.

 

Always be disciplined, take only the much you need.

 

“The God we worship is a God of orderliness and frugalism.  In John 6:12  He says ‘ When they had all had enough, He said to His disciples, gather up now the fragments (the broken pieces that are left over), so that nothing may be lost and wasted that is His position,” he said.

 

Speaking on the theme of the harvest, ‘Harvest of Divine Surplus’ taken from 2kings 7:8, he said surplus is an unmerited favour from God to His children.

 

Harvest,  AKinyemi defined  as the process of gathering ripened crops , with recourse to Ecclesiastes chapter 3 which states that there are times for everything, time to plant and time to harvest, he further added that surplus comes from God.

 

“God has held to His words and watches them come to pass in our lives this accounts to His revelation on the choice of the theme which is a promise He has sworn to fulfil in the life of they that trust in him not minding the situation,” he said.

 

Akinyemi admonished Christians to always have faith in God like the widow of Zaraphath who by Faith adhered to the instructions of Elijah and never go hungry with her son in the face of drought, and Isaac in Genesis 26 that obeyed the Lord and dwelt in the land He asked him to, and had unmeritted favours.

 

“Children of God who honour his words would come out with bountiful harvest regardless of the present economic situation of this country, they would come out in flying colour in thier examinations.

 

“Be a man or woman of prayer. God says in Jeremiah 33:3, call upon me and I will answer you, I will show you great and mighty things fenced in and hidden, which you do not know,” Akinyemi said.

 

Meanwhile, highpoint of the event was the cutting of the harvest cake which has the inscription, ‘My year of Divine Favour’.

 

There was blessing of fruits and prayer for the working tools of the children and adults alike, bible verses were recited by the children, as well as choreography dance.

 

The children prayed for God’s healing hands upon the sick parents and children who are bedridden in various homes and hospitals, they also prayed for those looking unto the Lord for the blessing of child birth in thier homes, that God will bless them with theirs that would join them in the coming harvest  (2020).

 

They also prayed for peace in Nigeria.
