CILT To Focus On Railway Industry In 2025, As Usoro Tasks NRC Boss To Empower Directors

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) has called on the Nigerian Railway Corporation’ (NRC) to participate in the forthcoming master class executive programme in a bid to build capacity for top management personnel .
National President, CILT Nigeria, Barrister Mfon Usoro who made the appeal at a Workshop put together by the institute Railway Mode on Tuesday ,July 30th 2024 in Lagos, stated that more emphasis will dedicated to the rail mode of transportation come 2025.
Usoro urged Managing Director , Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) Fidet Okhiria to sponsor directors of the corporation to various capacity building programmes put together by CILT locally and internationally , in furtherance to boost manpower development for management staff.
According to her, CILT will commence its Master class programmes for Chief Executive Officers and Directors from the public and private ventures adding that the NRC is not an exception to participate in the weekend lectures.
She explained that CILT is all about manpower development aimed to provide knowledge for members on transport related courses, pointing out that the institute has designed a master class programme for heads of agencies.
Usoro also described the Managing Director of NRC, Fidet Okhiria as a reformist of the rail sub sector of transportation system,even as she expressed satisfaction that CILT collaboration with Corporation has yielded positive results.
The CILT President called on the Managing Director of NRC to continue the good work at the corporation adding that more investment is needed to provide services for the masses.
She called on members and employees from the transport sector to invest more on self development as it will help to improve skills and advance knowledge about the industry.
Earlier, Managing Director, NRC described rail mode of transportation as an enabler to nation building adding that railway operations may not be seen as money spinning agency of the federal government .
Okhiria promised to support members of CILT under the railway mode as part of measures to encourage adequate participation of staff.
On his part , Rail Mode Nodal Officer of CILT Nigeria, Akinola Dauda Olabayo said the Workshop highlights the critical role of rail in trade facilitation, economic growth and sustainable development.
