Barely one week of announcing moves to revamp the nation’s national assets, the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has commenced the reactivation process of the floating dock currently on Lagos waters.
Director General of NIMASA,Dr. Bashir Jamoh disclosed this on his verified facebook page on Thursday.
He reaffirmed the deadline reactivation of asset, saying the modular floating dock must be commence operation before the end of March 2022.
He disclosed that the foreign managing partners are already onboard the national assets to commence the process of reactivation.
He reassured that the modular floating dock when reactivated will create jobs for Nigerians.
Recall that the DG at a press conference held in Lagos reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment towards ensuring the reactivation of the floating dock , through Private Public Partnership (PPP) model.
Jamoh with the #BlueEconomy ,said’ As announced last week during my press conference, we’ve commenced the reactivation process for the NIMASA floating dock through the PPP model to meet the March timeline with our Managing Partners on site.
“This national asset will create employment for many Nigerians.”
Jamoh had assured stakeholders during the press conference that the floating dock will be operational before the end of first quarter of 2022 .
He said “However, we don’t want to operate it by government or NIMASA alone but for Public Private Partnership. As usual,the issue of privatisation of any government property is not a product but a process.”
