B’ODOGWU: Customs Tin Can Island Port Command Launches Platform With 1st SGD

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) at Tin Can Island Port Command has processed its first Single Goods Declaration (SGD) using the indigenous B’Odogwu digital platform on May 12, 2025.

According to a statement, this milestone marks a major advancement in trade facilitation, transparency, and operational efficiency at one of Nigeria’s busiest seaports.

Comptroller Frank Onyeka, Customs Area Controller, highlighted that the B’Odogwu system streamlines cargo clearance, reduces dwell time, and improves service delivery.

The Command , he said now boasts 100% network coverage across all terminals and headquarters, eliminating previous connectivity issues and ensuring smooth operations.

“Designed for seamless integration with existing Customs systems, B’Odogwu offers a user-friendly interface for declarants, brokers, and stakeholders, enabling real-time cargo tracking, document processing, and compliance management.

“Extensive training and stakeholder engagement preceded the launch, involving shipping lines, customs agents, terminal operators, and officers to ensure smooth adoption.

“Industry players, including SteveJosh Logistics International Limited, whose declaration was the first on the platform, have welcomed the innovation, anticipating reduced transaction costs and enhanced Nigeria’s global trade competitiveness.

“The Tincan Island Port Command remains committed to leveraging technology to support Nigeria’s economic growth and international trade agenda.”the statement added.
