BLUE RAIL LINE: LASG To Demolish Trade Fair Bridge For 2nd Phase Of Project

The Lagos State Governor has disclosed plans to demolish the Trade Fair flyover bridge as part of measures to give way for the construction of the 2nd phase of the Blue Line Project.

Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo Olu who disclosed this in a chat with newsmen on Thursday, further announced a 25 per cent rebate on fares for government-owned transport schemes.

Tagged “Sanwo Olu Speaks”, the Governor reiterated that already the construction company CCECC has been mobilized to site and the demolition may likely commence next to allow the second phase commence.

He said CCECC would demolish the bridge and reconstruct a new one even when the rail construction is ongoing.

He added that the 25% reduction on transport services will start this weekend for the State Public Transport system (BRT, Train, Ferry).

The governor noted that his administration was also in discussions with various transport unions to reduce their fares.

While responding to questions from journalists during the chat, the Governor re-echoed that the Mile 2 – Okokomaiko Blue Rail Line has already commenced but may not be visible to the populace .

He added that the project would further provide succour for people in that part of Lagos State upon completion.

He further expressed readiness for the commissioning of the Red Rail Line which is expected to come up next week which would be unveiled by President Bola Tinubu.

The Lagos State Governor, said his administration would be reducing public servants working days as part of plans to cushion the cost of living crisis in the country.

 

“We want to start with our public servants, immediately from next week, Civil servants from the lower level will be working like three times a week and level 15-17 can work four times in a week,” Sanwo-Olu said during the ongoing media parley on economic hardship.

On the rising cost of food, he added that his administration would open more markets where Lagosians can buy food items at discounted rates.
