BBNaija 2019: Nigerians Spent Over N7.2 Billion Voting For 26 Housemates

Fans of the Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) show spent over N7.2 billion on votes for their favorite housemates in season 4 of the reality TV show.

 

Ebuka, the host of the show, revealed during the grand finale on Sunday night that the 2019 BBNaija show received over N240 million votes from fans who voted for 26 housemates.

 

The show came to end on Sunday night with Mercy Eke walking away with the grand prize of ₦60 million worth of cash and gifts.

Mercy became the first female to ever emerge winner of the Nigerian version of the reality show, beating four other finalists – Mike Edwards, Omashola Kola Oburoh, Seyi Awolowo and Frodd Okoye.

Voting was one of the major factors of the reality show as viewers voted for their favorite housemates to keep them in the house.

 

The BBNaija fans spent ₦30 per vote on SMS. Organizers of the show pegged the voting limit per sim at 100 votes. Also, fans were only allowed to use 10 sim cards in a device to vote.

 

The fourth season of the Big Brother Naija show lasted for 99 days from June 30, 2019, to October 6, 2019.
