Bayelsa Secures Gas Supply Agreement, As Rice Mill Tractors Arrive Yenagoa From Korea

.Unveils Contractor For NDU Proposed 10,000 Sitting Capacity Convocation Arena

 

 

Bayelsa Government has secured a gas supply agreement with the International Oil Companies to support the planned Independent Power Plant Project in the State.

Governor Douye Diri stated this today at the 140th State Executive Council meeting at the Exco Chambers of Government House, Yenagoa.

The Governor also sympathized with the people of the State over the prolonged darkness assuring that the State Government is working with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to restore power.

“Beyond the TCN, I like to assure you that your Government is also working towards a more sustainable power generation and distribution in the State. We have been in contact with the investors and not only with the investors even those who are producing to ensure we have our own gas turbine.

We are in touch with the IOCs operating in our State and they have all agreed to the gas supply agreement as soon as we have our gas turbine installed and we are very sure that in the coming years we will be having 24hrs power supply in Bayelsa State”, the Governor said

Governor Diri also reiterated his commitment to agriculture stating that the rice mill and tractors donated by the Korean Government has arrived in Yenagoa.

Meanwhile, the Bayelsa State Government has unveiled Messrs Architectonic LTD owned by a reputable Ijaw Son, Architect Reuben Okoya as the contractor to handle the proposed 10,000 Sitting Capacity Convocation Arena for the State-owned Niger Delta University (NDU).

The legacy project was recently approved and awarded by the State Executive Council led by His Excellency, Sen. Douye Diri, Executive Governor of Bayelsa State for the University.

Confirming the development, the State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Gentle Emelah, said his visit to the University was to assess the site of the proposed project.

According to Emelah, “the delegation from the Education Ministry was received by the Vice Chancellor, Niger Delta University,Prof. Allen Agih alongside Principal Officers of the University and taken to the proposed site for assessment.”

“As part of the visit, I earlier officially unveiled the contractor to handle the legacy project,Messrs Architectonic LTD owned by a reputable Ijaw Son Architect Reuben Okoya.”

“I extended warm greetings from His Excellency, Visitor to the University who is passionate about the project to give the Institution a befitting Convocation Arena of good standard and as such, awarded the project to a Bayelsan with a proven track record of quality service delivery and excellence.”

Dr. Emelah, was joined by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr. Simon-Peter Okene, Director Finance and Accounts, Mr. Joe Sikpi, Ag. Project Manager, Engr. Goodluck Ofodah and a Member of the Governing Council of the University from the Ministry of Education, Mr. Faith Ogbara among others.
