A multi million naira new Bauchi Government House annex has been opened for official use on Monday.
The new edifice is to house the Governor, his Deputy and the Secretary to the Government of the State. The temporary office complex will be used by the Governor pending the completion of the main building which is under construction.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri who joined other PDP Governors in Bauchi for their monthly meeting was at the event.
Commissioning the project at the sidelines of the People’s Democratic Governors Forum meeting in Bauchi, Sokoto State Governor who is also the forums Chairman, Rt Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal Commended Governor Bala Mohammed for making PDP proud.
He regretted the impact of bad governance at the centre, but was quick to inform the gathering that PDP has a social contract with the people and would not betray the confidence reposed in them.
He said PDP Governors have pledged to make a difference in governance and would not be deterred by the failure of the APC led Government.
Governor Tambuwal noted that it takes one who believes in good governance to take over an initiative abandoned over 30 years ago to construct and complete within 3 months.
The Chairman of the PDP Governors forum said they are not surprised with the performance of Governor Bala Mohammed, having performed well as FCT Minister, Senator and now Governor.
Earlier, Governor Abdulkadir Bala Mohammed said the commissioning of the new edifice marks the renewal of the Bauchi Government House and had to take advantage of their meeting to unveil the project.
Since creation in 1976, Bauchi Government House has been operating from buildings used by the colonial Government.
The new renewal initiative, construction and upgrade of the Government House will seat on a 5000 square metres land which contractors say will be the pride of every Bauchi citizen.
