The General Hospital Apapa on Momday, commemorated with the rest of the world to celebrate world oral day .
The celebration which held at the hospital premises, was organised by the Dental Department.
According to a statement from Oputeh Michael, Public Affairs Officer, Apapa General Hospital , the Dentist and Dental nurses conducted free oral screening and investigation for over one hundred patients having different issue with their mouth.
The Medical Director and Chief Executive Officer of Apapa General hospital, Dr. Ajibola Keshinro, was quoted in his remark saying oral health is a key indicator of overall health, well-being and quality of life.
He explained further that some of the most common diseases that impact out oral health include, cavities that is tooth decay, gum, periodontal disease and oral cancer.
He equally said that oral health refers to the health of the teeth, gums and the entire oral facial system that allows us to smile, speak and chew.
During the oral day celebration Apapa residents were given Dental awareness, free oral screening and mouth-care items were also given out for free.
World Oral Day is an annual event held on the 20th March .
