Anobb Global Ventures Urges NURTW To Introduce New Method Of Levy Collection

 Foremost haulage operator, Anobb Global Ventures Limited has called on the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW),Lagos State Chapter to introduce new method of levy collection as part of measures to eliminate touting and reckless activities by members of the Union on the highways.

President, Anobb Global Ventures/Anobb Integrated  Resources Limited, Prince Noah Odunsi Abiola disclosed this during a parley with top management of NURTW Lagos state chapter led by it’s Chairman, Comrade Musiliu Ayinde Adesanya aka MC Oluomo last week.

 

 Prince Abiola,  a former Vice Chairman and General Secretary of Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners( NARTO) Tin Can Island Port ,while harping on the need to reform the state transport sectors, stressed the need for the Union to sign a  Public Private Partnership (P.P.P) with the government in providing basic infrastructural facilities.

He further called for Joint Venture Partnership in the procurement of high quality and high capacity vehicles to compliment the policy of the Lagos State government in the T.H E.M.E  agenda.

 

The President said that ” There is need to establish central data base for all union members and staff so as to have their biometric records for safer activities and more convenient method of revenue collection and disbursement of union dues.

 

 

“It is also proper to formulate a new method of fees collection that will eradicate touting and reckless activists of members on the ever busy roads and highways.

Prince Abiola further called on NURTW to strictly emphasis on the need for peace and tranquility to reign in Lagos State and Nigeria at large,  even as he admonished  all union members to carry out their activities in a lawful and peaceful manner.

While calling on the Union to champion peaceful coexistence in the transport and haulage sector, the President maintained that ” It is only in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility that meaningful development and sustainable progress could be evidentially achieved.

 

Primarily, on the need to build capacity for members of the road Union, Prince Abiola advocated for a symbiotic relationship between NURTW and his organization to embark on training and empowerment programmes that would change the narrative and mindset of people with negative impression of the foremost transport labour group.

 

“We need to collaborate together in the area of arranging periodical training and empowerment programs for union staff members and all union field workers because it is key towards changing the impression and narrative of commuters.

On his part Comrade Adesanya said the new executives of NURTW Lagos State Chapter will not in any form tolerate  indiscipline and violence among members but ensured a robust welfare package for union staff members and workers.

 

He assured that members will all be proud to have him as the union chairman at this time.

 

Meanwhile , both groups agreed to organise constant orientation programs and behavioural training for all union members.

 

The Union Chairman also assured the general public and residents of Lagos state that they shall begin to see sanity and decency in the system very soon .
