The Chairperson of ESTYMUELS Integrated Services Limited, Mrs. Esther Oluwatoyin Oyeleke, has bagged a Master’s degree in Maritime Logistics at the prestigious University of Lagos (UNILAG).
Oyeleke is also a chieftain of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), and former Chairman ,KLT Chapter.
Oyeleke, who is also the Public Relations Officer of African Women in Maritime (WIMA) Nigerian Chapter, and Assistant General Secretary of Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA) Nigeria, was one of the graduates celebrated at the 55th UNILAG Convocation Ceremony on Thursday.
Having successfully completed the academic requirements for the master’s degree at UNILAG’s Institute of Maritime Studies in the department of Logistics and Supply Chain Management, she described the journey as fulfilling and rewarding.
According to a statement while speaking at the ceremony, Oyeleke said; “From the screening processes stage, induction, physical and online classes, numerous assignment, tests, group work, field trips, seminars and project defense; the experience was not as easy as I had envisaged.
“For zoom classes, there was deadline for the students to join and if the lecturer comes in before any student, it is recorded as abscent for that student. Assignments also had to be submitted on or before the exact specified time and date. Some physical classes held from 7am till 7pm.”
The veteran freight forwarder, whose firm ‘ESTYMUELS’ offers services that cut across the globe with expertise export, import and consultancy services in logistics and supply chain, noted that her research project work posed huge challenges as she sought data from business owners, organisations, government owned organisations in the maritime sector.
While working of her research project titled: “Integration of Blue Economy into Sustainable Clearing Operations in Nigerian Ports: A case study of Apapa ports”, she noted that the findings and experience has better positioned her to do exploits in her logistics business.
Oyeleke assured that the educational exploits at UNILAG would also enhance contributions to the growth of the nation’s maritime industry, especially through the strategic women groups like WISTA Nigeria and WIMA Nigeria.
