ANLCA Lilypond Members Join Apapa Chapter ….Ex – Chairman

Following the takeover of.the Tin Can 2 command of the Nigeria Customs Service by Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) for truck holding bay, members of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents in the chapter said they had merged with Apapa chapter as members.

 

A former Chairman, Tin Can 2 Chapter, of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Mr. Olufemi Olabanji who spoke with our reporter said the move was necessary for members to remain in business.

 

The ex-Chairman in chat with newsmen over the weekend said the move was necessary following the recent directive by the federal government.

 

Recall that NPA recently took over the facility for Truck Transit Park (TTP) for manual call up system as a means of proferring solutions to the perennial gridlock in Apapa.

 

According to him, members can only survive when they move close to the nearest chapter as part of effort to remain in business.

 

He also noted that the innovation of the government to convert the facility to a truck park would not yield positive results adding that the terminal operators and shipping companies may frustrate the directive for selfish motives.

 

The ANLCA chieftain called on the government to set up a committee that would involve customs brokers to inspect the existing facilities at APM. terminals, pointing out that lack of equipment at their disposal would hinder the effort of establishing a truck park at the Ijora holding bay.

 

According to him, the establishment of the truck park at Ijora would lead to port congestion as the concessionaire and sister shipping line “Maersk Line” would frustrate the process through man made and handling equipment delays.

 

Olufemi also took a swipe at the leadership style of the association ‘s National President, Tony Iju Nwabunike over failure to resolve the lingering crises rocking the association.

 

Asked about the position of the leaders of ANLCA over closure of Lilypond terminal, Olufemi lamented that the Nwabunike led administration has been clueless in to tackle the numerous challenges affecting the association.

 

He also frowned at the alleged inconsistency of the national president of ANLCA ,pointing out that the association since inception of the current administration has been under the control of the Vice President Kayode Farinto and Secretary General, Babatunde Mukaila.

 

He maintained that the ANLCA President lack the ability to manage crisis; which according to him, is the hallmark of a good leader.

 

The ANLCA chieftain noted that : ” Leadership is by God. Mr. Tony Iju does not know how to manage his followers as a leader. ANLCA is not a public or political association rather its for professional.

 

“The way Tony Iju is going about leadership is not good and I pray for him because it is only God that will help him.

 

” If he fails today,tomorrow will be a reference point for him because he failed to lead us the way it ought to.

 

He called that the President to mention his achievements since elected as ANLCA leader.
