Akwa Ibom Announces Arrival Of Two New Airbus To Boost Air Fleet

The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, has revealed that the state will take delivery of two brand new Airbus aircraft before the end of 2026, significantly strengthening the Ibom Air fleet.

This announcement came during the March edition of the Government House Monthly Covenant Service, highlighting the state’s commitment to expanding aviation capabilities.

The Governor noted that these additions align with ongoing upgrades at Victor Attah International Airport, paving the way for international flights to commence in April 2026.

“This will further position Akwa Ibom as a key aviation hub in Nigeria,” he emphasized.The update was part of broader highlights, including the upcoming commissioning of the ARISE Elderly Citizens Centre (Geriatric Centre) by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, on March 7, 2026—her first official visit to the state.

“Other projects mentioned include a new jetty in Oron, works at Ikot Ekpene International Market, and fiscal reforms like the Treasury Single Account.

Two New Airbus Aircraft Underway for Ibom Air

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, has announced that the State Geriatric Centre, also known as the ARISE Elderly Citizens Centre, will be commissioned by the nation’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, on Saturday, March 7, 2026.

Speaking at the March edition of the Government House Monthly Covenant Service, the Governor said the commissioning of the centre, located on the ARISE Medical Corridor along the Uyo–Ikot Ekpene Road, will form part of activities marking the First Lady’s first official visit to the State. The visit will also feature the grand finale of the ongoing women sensitisation and mobilisation tour.

Governor Eno noted that the facility, which includes a health centre and relaxation areas, is designed to cater for senior citizens, particularly those aged 65 years and above.

He commended the women of the State for their active participation in the sensitisation and economic empowerment programme and conveyed the warm felicitations of the First Lady to them.

The Governor appreciated all who made time to attend the covenant service, stating that the State is embarking on several strategic projects that require fervent prayers for divine guidance and speed.

He disclosed that government is constructing a brand new jetty in Oron as part of efforts to restore the city’s commercial vitality. He further revealed that strategic projects are ongoing across the three Senatorial Districts, with preliminary works already commenced at the Ikot Ekpene International Market, while full construction will begin soon.

 

While enumerating the achievements of his administration, he described peace as the State’s greatest asset and charged citizens to resist any attempt by individuals or groups to disrupt it.

The Governor, who expressed satisfaction that the era of oath-taking has ended with the new electoral law which does not recognise special delegates, announced that the State Congress of the ruling All Progressives Congress will hold on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, and called on party members to participate actively.

He urged the congregation to continue to pray for the success of his administration, the Senate President of Nigeria, Senator Godswill Akpabio, GCON, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

Earlier in his sermon on the theme, “El-Shaddai,” drawn from 2 Corinthians 9:8, the Pastor-in-Charge of Region 14 of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Umar Idris Enoch, encouraged believers to trust in God even in times of uncertainty. He assured that when a cause is rooted in God, there is nothing to fear.

He emphasised that divine purpose will always prevail and that faith in El-Shaddai guarantees that the expectations of the righteous shall not be cut short.
