After 2 Fatal Crashes ,Boeing To Cut Production Of 737 Max

Following  two fatal crashes within five months,Boeing said on Friday it is set to slowdown production of its 737 Max jet.

Boeing’s chief executive, Dennis A. Muilenburg, said in a statement that the company would reduce the rate at which it produces 737 airplanes to 42 airplanes a month from 52.

The move comes as the jet remains grounded around the world, and after Boeing paused deliveries of new planes, creating a backlog on its production lines in Renton, Wash.

Muilenburg also said that Boeing would establish a new committee on its board of directors to review how it develops and builds planes.

“The committee will confirm the effectiveness of our policies and processes for assuring the highest level of safety on the 737 Max program, as well as our other airplane programs, and recommend improvements to our policies and procedures,” he said.
