Recall that Amaechi and Dr. Kayode Fayemi, former Governor of Ekiti State, founded the new ADC coalition before bringing in other members.

According to the statement, on Sunday , August 10 2025, the media office has stated that, despite efforts to verify the claim circulating widely on social and digital platforms, no credible evidence, including video footage or reports from reputable media outlets, has been found to support the allegation.

The statement from the office warns against the spread of fabricated or distorted assertions commonly attributed to public figures for malicious purposes. They noted the possibility that Amaechi may not have made the claim or was misquoted.

Reaffirming Dr. Fayemi’s loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the statement emphasized that he remains a committed leader working to advance the party’s ideals in Ekiti State and nationwide. Dr. Fayemi has also publicly endorsed Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji for re-election, underscoring his continued support for the APC.

The office highlighted Dr. Fayemi’s role as a politician and thought leader engaged in broad discussions about Nigeria’s future, which do not equate to defection from the APC. They asserted that any departure by Dr. Fayemi would be announced publicly, not through third parties.

The statement addressed speculation about Dr. Fayemi’s party affiliation, attributing it to his limited public visibility due to commitments as a visiting professor at King’s College London and founder of the Amandla Institute. Nonetheless, he remains actively involved in APC local leadership activities in Ekiti.

The media office urged the public to exercise caution when encountering news about Dr. Fayemi, especially from social media sources.
