Activist Group Lauds NDLEA Boss Over Seizures Of Hard Drugs At Seaports

The Save Nigerian Freight Forwarding Importers Exporters Coalition has commended the Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mr. Buba Marwa over the huge seizures of illicit imported  drug recorded from the seaports , airports and land borders in less than a year.

 

The port activist group further called on President Muhammadu Buhari to empower the drug law agency with necessary logistics and other apparatus in furtherance to rid the international frontiers from any dangerous narcotics that could destroy the teeming youths if allowed access into the country.

 

NDLEA in the last eight months has recorded huge interception of illegal  drugs Importation which include cocaine, tramadol, heroine and others mostly at the nation’s seaports.

National Coordinator of the group, Chief Osita Chukwu Patrick in a chat with DAILYFOCUS NIGERIA , maintained that General Buba Marwa appointment as the NDLEA boss last year by the Buhari was an eye opener in drug related crimes in Nigeria, mostly as it connects the international boundaries.

 

According to him, Marwa deserves both local and international laurels despite  less than one year in office.

Apparently , he noted that the Marwa led NDLEA management request on issues of dangerous drugs from the federal government most be treated with urgency pointing out that “There is more he can offer to reduce drug trafficking and other related crimes if properly equipped to fight such crimes.

Osita who is the Chairman of International Freight Forwarders Association, Apapa Chapter, affirmed that  Marwa’s leadership style has caused  panic among drug syndicates with Nigeria link .

 

The port activist described the NDLEA boss as a goal getter,even as he recalled the numerous achievements recorded during his tenure as the sole administrator of Lagos State.

 

While recalling the 1995 and 1996  legacy, Osita affirmed that during the peak of armed robbery cases in Lagos State, Marwa introduced the Rapid Response Squad also known as RRS, which according to him is an iconic approach to crime reduction that exist till date.

The Former military administrator of Lagos and Borno states, Brig-Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa (rtd), was appointed as the Chairman/CEO of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) by President Muhammadu Buhari in January 2021.
