The Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON)has expressed grief over the passing of a foremost member , Mr. David Gbemisola Adekunle whose untimely death occurred on Sunday, 4th January, 2026.
According to a statement on Tuesday, signed by the President of AMJON, Vera Osokpo, members of the group are devastated by the sad news of Adekunle’s demise.
An obituary of his passing has already been announced by the family.
The statement reads: “With total submission to the will of Almighty God, the family of Adekunle hereby announces the passing of our beloved son, brother, husband, father, and uncle, late David Gbemisola Adekunle aka Honourable, who passed onto glory on Sunday, January 4, 2026.”
It stated that the Service of Songs would hold on Monday, January 12, 2026, by 4:00 pm at No. 5, Lawal Close, Abule Taylor, U-Turn Bustop, Abule Egba, Lagos.
The funeral, according to the details released by the family, will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 10:00am at Lantoro Cemetery, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Until his death, Adekunle was a staff of Voice of Nigeria (VON) as well as a member of AMJON.
He is survived by his wife and children
